The Week Ahead and Beyond
This Sunday is the 12th Sunday After Pentecost. Linda's message is “Lost Sheep.” Marya Katz and Emily Davis will play "Abide With Me" for the special music. After worship, we will enjoy lemonade on the lawn.
There won't be an eUpdate next week since Bruce will be out of town.
Northside is scheduled to help at the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry on August 25.

Rev. Dr. Hugh B. Springer, 1941-2026 The Session learned during its meeting on Sunday that Hugh Springer had passed away that morning. Huge was installed as Northside's third full-time pastor in September, 1986. His wife Candy and their sons James and Tom joined Northside at that time. They remained active until Hugh accepted a call to Falling Springs Presbyterian Church in Glasglow, Virginia, in 1998. Following retirement from the pulpit, Hugh served as the stated clerk of the Presbytery of the Peaks for several years. Hugh was born on January 5, 1941.
After the onset of Parkinson's Disease, Hugh was eventually moved to an assisted living facility in Roanoke. Within the past week, his health began to fail and he was moved to the hospice area of the facility where he passed away on Sunday morning. Hugh will be cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled in the future.
The prayers and support of the congregation are offered to Candy, Tom and Nickki, and Merry and her family.

Giving Opportunity! Sophia Frimpong is setting up a school in Ghana. She is beginning with kindergarten and will gradually add other grades. Ordering things and having them sent directly to Ghana or buying local is the best option economically. Desks and chairs are a priority. If you would like to donate to Sophia’s education project you may write a check to Northside, noting that it is for the "Ghana school project." You can also donate on line by selecting "Northside PC Ad Hoc Giving" and noting that the payment is for the "Ghana school project."
